Shaking the Status Quo

Creative servers today use a combination of plugins created before the Nether existed.

  • WorldEdit
  • VoxelSniper
  • FastAsyncWorldEdit
  • PlotSquared

Of course there's nothing wrong with the classics, especially if you're used to them.

But let us propose that considering this mashup of plugins, with varying configurations, idiosyncratic UX and long-winded commands...
there is a better way.

Creative, from First Principles

At the basics, players edit the world using tools. Their hand is the simplest tool, but there should be tools to place lots of blocks, create spheres, copy/paste parts, edit block properties, paint, sculpt, write text, edit armor stands, display entities, particle emitters... anything you've seen and more!

In our vision, (1) Tools are items.

The Selection Tool
  • Items lie in your hotbar and inventory
  • Items are easy to clone and share with others
  • Most important: The item holds the tool's settings.

Instead of remembering crazy commands, (2) Every feature has a GUI, including all the available settings for a tool.
Of course, for power users, there should be command alternatives to all of the menus.

Visually, (3) Tools have visual previews. Be it the selection box, generating spheres or sculpting terrain, the tools should lower the burden of trying to translate your mental image of your creation into blocks.

And finally, (4) Tools are integrated.. This means many things:

  • Every tool is part of the undo/redo history.
  • Every tool can paste blocks asynchronously (to avoid lag).
  • Tools can share assets. Both the Fill tool and the Sphere tool can use generator patterns (ex. 50% dirt, 25% grass, 25% air)
  • Of course, creating generator patterns can be done with a tool, via a GUI.
  • And once the pattern is refined, use it across your worlds, or share it with other players!

Not just a tool: A Community

We understand there's a wide variety of creative players within Minecraft, ranging from beginners who just realized there's something else than survival, to professional builders on the Minecraft Marketplace, or players who are just curious about our unique kind of servers. We want to offer something for each of them.

Sharing our vision for network features:

  • Showcase & browse builds on the network.
  • Setup your Build Team, with powerful permissions management.
  • Automated contests, deeply integrated in the network.
  • Offer a library of video and text guides to improve at building.
  • Take part in creative-related minigames, such as Build Battle or Guess the Build.
  • Earn badges and climb in ranks from getting your builds reviewed by curators, participating in contests and minigames.

Of course, it'll be a journey to get there, but the tldr is: Be the #1 creative destination on Minecraft, in ALL categories.
But you can be a part of this journey, by joining our Discord, playing on the server and... building amazing stuff!
